The Ultimate List of Summer Events and Activities in Chino Hills

Summertime in Chino Hills, CA, with its beautiful scenery and temperate weather, is a magical time. We’re so in love with summers in Chino Hills that we’ve assembled this list of summer activities, complete with activities, food and shopping, landmarks and museums, and live events. Once you’ve experienced them for yourself, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with this city just like we have.

Summer Activities

Prado Regional Park 

Prado Regional Park is located in the Chino Valley Basin, where the San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles counties connect. The park is a paradise offering a myriad of activities, all of which are perfect for a warm summer day outdoors. Visitors will be able to participate in all of their favorite outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, and biking. 

Additionally, the park contains a splash pad, picnic facilities, a dog park, a disc golf course, an Olympic shooting range, an archery range, an equestrian center, and two 18-hole golf courses. For lovers of the water, the lake is open to electric trolling rowboats, kayaks, and canoes. The park is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Entrance to the park is only $8 on weekdays and $10 on weekends. Take advantage of this utopia and all of the amazing amenities it offers this summer! 

Bowling

Fans of bowling will be pleased to find the Chaparral 300 bowling alley located in Chino Hills. In addition to more than a dozen bowling lanes, the facilities also house a restaurant, lounge, and bar. Those that do not want to bowl can still be entertained with good food, a wide selection of draft beers, pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, and a number of other table games. Chaparral 300 is open Tuesday through Sunday, with a variable schedule that depends on the day. The price per person per game is between $4.50 and $6, with a flat shoe rental rate of around $5. Chaparral 300 has something fun to offer everyone, so do not miss out on some time in this fantastic venue!

Food and Shopping

The Shoppes at Chino Hills

The Shoppes at Chino Hills is another ideal place to spend a hot summer day, with an enormous array of shopping and dining options. Connoisseurs of all types of cuisine will find something to love here, with options including ramen, barbeque, sushi, pizza, Mexican, and more. A number of beverage and dessert options are available as well.

Furthermore, the Shoppes host a wide variety of shopping and services that will appeal to all tastes and preferences. If you are looking for a premier shopping experience or some good food this summer, the Shoppes at Chino Hills has you covered. 

The Boiler SKC

The Boiler SKC is well known for Southern Louisiana cuisine in their signature individually jacketed steam kettles. Patrons will experience Louisiana classics such as gumbo, jambalaya, gulf oysters, and more in a unique new way. 

Take UR Seat

Take UR Seat offers a twist on classic American fare, imbuing it with some Asian zest. Customers can order American brunch classics such as french toast or venture into new territory with the swai fish bowl or Kimchee fried rice omelet. Executive chef “Aya” Paul is a trained professional in the culinary arts, so head over to Take UR Seat for a fantastic meal, quality guaranteed. 

Vintner’s Tavern

For those looking for a fine dining experience with some wine, look no further than Vintner’s Tavern . The rustic atmosphere perfectly complements the quality cuisine and the vast collection of wines. This hidden gem is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m., with extended hours on Friday and Saturday. Vintner’s Tavern is the ideal venue for a date night, so make sure that you pay it a visit!

Landmarks and Museums

Planes of Fame Air Museum

Chino Hills is home to the Planes of Fame Air Museum , which aims to preserve aviation history, inspire an interest in aviation, educate the public, and honor aviation pioneers and veterans. The museum boasts one of the most extensive collections of rare aircraft in the world and is home to almost 160 flying and static aircraft. 

If you time your visit well this summer, you may be able to witness some of these historic aircraft in action. The museum website calendar allows you to check on the travel and flight plans of the aircraft. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children. Be sure to visit the Planes of Fame Air Museum this summer if you are interested in aircraft or history.

Hindu Temple

Hindu devotees and those interested in learning more about the faiths of others can visit the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills . This traditional Mandir was constructed as the culmination of a growing Hindu congregation in the Los Angeles area. Completed in 2012, it is only the fifth traditional Hindu Mandir in North America

 Visitors can witness the devotion of Hindu practitioners in the Mandir and can discover ancient Hindu traditions and architecture through the exhibition “Mandir: Inspiring Faith, Tradition, and Harmony.” 

Next to the Mandir, visitors will find the Haveli (visitors center), which holds a gift and book shop, a sweets shop, and the Shayona Cafe. The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir campus is open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily, and the Mandir itself is open those times with the exception of a daily break from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is the perfect place to broaden your horizons and experience new traditions and architecture, so don’t miss out!

Buddhist Temple

In addition to the Hindu Mandir, visitors and residents of Chino Hills will also find the Buddhist temple , another center of religious devotion and ancient tradition. Visitors can enter the temple and take a short tour in order to learn more about Buddhist practices and history. 

On Sundays starting at 9 a.m., the temple hosts an open-air market, with a number of Thai vendors selling a variety of delicious and authentic foods and beverages. There is also live music around lunchtime. Go early if you want to catch the Sunday morning service and avoid the rush later in the afternoon, and bring cash, as that is the only accepted form of payment. If you love exploring new cultures and traditions, the Buddhist temple of Chino Hills is a fantastic place to do so. 

Live Events

Concerts in the Park

The City of Chino Hills will be hosting another series of Concerts in the Park this summer! Concerts go every Wednesday through August 3, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Veterans Park. Several fan-favorite local bands will be performing music from various genres, such as country, Motown, alternative rock, pop, classic rock, and Latin salsa. In addition to the live music, there will be a number of vendors selling food and drinks.

Additionally, there will be a special Independence Celebration on July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., headlined by Petty & the Heartshakers, a Tom Petty cover band and local favorite. There will also be a slew of other activities, including fun contests, crafts, booths, and a balloon artist. The Concerts in the Park series is free to the public, so be sure to take advantage of these opportunities!

Movies in the Park

The City of Chino Hills is also hosting the free Movies in the Park series this summer. Visitors will be able to watch an assortment of classic and new movies, such as Tangled , Moana , The Little Rascals , and The Nightmare Before Christmas . Movies will be screened weekly on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., running until August 4. These events will be held outdoors at the Chino Hills Community Center until July 21, and then at the McCoy Equestrian Center until August 4. Movie lovers should be sure to attend this free summer series!
