Enjoy an Environmentally Friendly Lifestyle at the Crossings of Chino Hills

Did you know that the US is the #1 trash-producing country in the world at 1,609 pounds per person per year ? This means that 5 percent of the world’s population generates 40 percent of the world’s waste. This data, along with countless other studies, makes it clear that there is a need to be more friendly to our environment.

At The Crossings of Chino Hills , we want to do all we can to protect the environment and promote a sustainable lifestyle. We are taking action by eliminating water waste, reducing paper and plastic waste, and encouraging recycling.

We Are Preserving Water

Since Chino Hills is an area prone to droughts, we are careful not to waste water on our property. To do this, we use drought-tolerant plants in our landscaping. These plants use much less water than other plants that are commonly used. We have also placed beautiful stone where some grass and mulch areas might be considered. Where watering is needed, our drip irrigation system is designed to significantly reduce the amount of water used.

Next, we save on water indoors with our low-flow toilets . Most toilets use 3.5 gallons of water with each flush, but the toilets at Chino Hills use about 20 percent less. Each low-flow toilet saves up to an impressive 13,000 gallons of water per year.

We Are Eliminating Paper and Plastic Waste

We are also taking action to reduce the amount of waste produced from paper and plastic products. We have a new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

Our efforts to go paperless in rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices have not only reduced waste, but they have also improved the quality of experience for our residents! We also have conveniently placed a water bottle refill station on the property to eliminate waste from plastic bottles.

We Are Encouraging Recycling

One of the best ways to live a sustainable lifestyle is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

Locally in Chino Hills, you can recycle at Republic Services . This small effort to recycle can make a big difference for our planet.

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas. You can learn more about organic waste recycling here . We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

Here at The Crossings of Chino Hills, we want to do everything we can to enjoy an environmentally friendly lifestyle and to promote sustainable living. If you are looking for a place to live a more sustainable lifestyle, The Crossings is the perfect fit for you!
